The Middle Man

The Middle Man, Frank Farrelli who works on behalf of the small town of Karmack in the American Midwest, has a difficult time making a living through death. Frank's job as a messenger is to deliver bad news to the people of Karmack because they no longer have the strength to do it themselves. Adapted from Lars Saabye Christensen's 2012 novel Sluk, The Middle Man is a darkly humorous social satire set in a small town plagued by consecutive accidents, death, and unfortunate events. Frank is portrayed by Norwegian theater and film actor Pål Sverre Hagen. Directed by Bent Hamer, known for O'horten, Factotum, Kitchen Stories, and Eggs, The Middle Man, whose first screening took place at the 2021 Toronto Film Festival, was filmed in Canada and is the latest work of the Norwegian director, writer, producer, and this year's head of the International Competition jury at the Istanbul Film Festival.
